Zm_apocalypticbeta1

Post by Something »

First beta of my ancipated new map, zm_apocalyptic.

Based in a city block after a zombie invasion, the team of explores ventures in looking for supplies, but one of them is infected...

This isn't a noob map with low fps and bad planning, this is a quality map. I have based the building on real-life examples. (Maker of zm_cratesfinal and zm_falling_death.) The design was my hightest priority and it should show. Each spot can be defended, but if the zombies work together, the humans will have some trouble. The fps hovers from the Mid 40s to to the 100's with everything high (4x AA). Spec: x800pro, 1GB Ram, 2.8ghz Intel 133 FSB.

Known bugs/problems:

Gameplay:
-People can jump from the top building near CT spawn over the map, but may get killed.

Graphics:
-3D skybox looks weird when viewed from the building tops.
-Slight sewing problem on displacements

Note: This beta just has some models/brushwork in place. Not all buildings are explorable, but pratically all of them are.

I think the vents will give zombie's a hard time.
There just to much open space and this will be hard for the first zombie's to actually get humans.

For the rest it looks nice it just need some more stuff in it. ;)

The vents actually don't cause much of a problem. There are three ways of getting into them and one can't even be effectivly covered by the humans at all. Yes, one zombie will ahvea ahrd time, but 5, not so.

Here's the setting I recommend:

Low kick back
No jet pack. (Zombies can reach the humans just fine, just have to work together like in crates.)
Meium zombie health. (2500-3000).
Leave the lighting alone or there wil be major lag.

Ok, I thought those would be a problem. Like the one near CT spawn?

Anything else?
