Zombie Classes

My idea is if you happened to be turned into a zombie the player would be able to spawn as a zombie that he chooses from a menu. You could have different classes, such as a slow zombie that gets knocked back less and has more hp, or a fast zombie who gets knocked back far and has less hp. Or even a class that can jump higher or something.

Just an idea they don't have to be those classes

I would rather see human classes :D or even new weapons for humans .

Human classes would be good - at the moment everyone goes straight for a pump-action, if you introduced classes it'd let us have some variety :P

This might be extremely hard to do, add some new weapons for humans (LAW, laser gun, etc.)

Or perhaps different grenades or some sort of shield but one that doesn't last to long.:)

I like the different Zombie classes idea. Making humans different classes, I'm not sure I like the idea.. As for different weapons like laser guns etc.. I don't care for it. That's more of a Quake sort of thing and doesn't belong in CS:S or it's mods but thats my opinion.

Part of the popularity factor of Zombiemod is it's simplicity and relatively small download size. Taking it too much further might endanger that? Or not.

Clients do not have to download the zombiemod. They only download the zombie models.

The client side to Zombie mod is the models. To run the "mod" takes a small download size for the models which I was refering to, adding stupid laser guns and different human models might not be a good idea in my mind, because it would make it an even larger d/l to join the server, especially with custom ZM maps.

When I added the other customized models it killed my server because ppl exit out when the long d/l's start.

The biggest download is the ambient sound, it brought the size of the zip file from 1mb to 4mb :\

I like the idea of having the different "classes" of zombies.

They can possibly work WITH the current models, such as one of the zombies being able to run faster, but not jump as high, or one zombie being able to sustain more damage with less knockback, etc.

You should also think about implementing different zombie based attacks. Like maybe a zombie can use a special type knife attack that can hit people from 10-20 feet away, but can only be used once per round?

Something like this could be considered, and for those who didnt like it, there could be an option to turn it off, i.e. zombie_attacks_extra 0/1

A firebomb could also be a cool idea - you could create a whole new interface menu that is triggered by @zbuy or something, and could include some new weapons, such as a grenade that places a small spot of fire on the ground, so zombie who walk through it take damage. Or even one that causes the zombies to sort of slow down, like a tar bomb?

:P Just some thoughts~

yes I have played a zombie server with zombie classes, but each was assigned randomly when u turned into a zombie, here they were:

Speed zombie = Moves Fast, has less than 300 health.

Infected zombie = Moves quite fast, but slower than speed zombie. Has 450 - 550 health.

Classic zombie = Moves slower than a running human player (standard speed) and has 1000 (ish) health

Crispy zombie = Moves about same speed as infected one, and uses a burnt type skin/ model. Had around 1500 health.

Personally, this class was very strong and hard to beat.

Poison zombie = Moves quite slow, although can jump relativly high. has Around 2000 - 2500 health

Deformed zombie = Moves just as slow as poison zombie, but has normal jump height. Has around 4000+ health.

Hope that helps with making up some zom classes.

Nebhead
